Frostfur shivered after a cold breeze sweap arcoss him. He wished that he could control the weather in StarClan. "Come here. It warm." Harepelt mewed to him. "Thanks." Frostfur mewed to the dead black warrior. "A darkness awaits for the Clans." A starry pelt padded up to them. "None of the cats out there are ready to die yet, Berryfern." Harepelt mewed. "Well Ripplewing should die." Berryfern mewed huskily. "Stop fighting." Frostfur mewed. He sweaped his starry tail accros StarClan hunting grounds. "Its a full moon and we have to tell Neonfur, Sagetail, Cloudstorm and Jaytail." Berryfern lashed his tail. "I never like meeting with that annoying Cloudstorm." he spat. Greenkit padded over, a hopeful look in her eyes. "Will one of my sisters die and come up here with me?" her green eyes shone with hope. "Only if they die as apprentaces." Berryfern rolled his eyes, "Their apprentaces!" Greenkit squeaked, "This is why I want you to let me see the liveing cats! I never even got the chance to become a apprentace." She added sadly. "Maybe we could have a apprentace ceromony for all the dead kits. After the medicene cats leave." Greenkit bounced happily, "But first," Berryfern mewed, "darkness will come."

As a hawk fled in terror, Lightningpaw yowled “Wait it go Moonhawk!” Moonhawk dipped her head in acknowledgement to the young apprentice, “I love attacking a hawk now and then.” she mewed. “DOGS!” yowled Neonstar, bursting through a gorse bush, her dark pelt quivering, “Dogs?” Sandfur repeated. Glowingpaw bounded into Neonstars cave, followed by her brother Gempaw, “Stop following me you mouse-brain!” she hissed, as Rainstorm pushed his kits, Larkpaw and Butterflypaw into Moonhawks cave. Thunderpaw hissed at the dogs, but his mother, Startail, pushed him into her cave. Mistywing let out a screech as a dog clawed her pelt. Fallinghail, took down the dog that attacked Mistywing “Take that!” she hissed, clawing the dogs muzzle. The dog whimpered and ran off, the rest of the dogs at its tail. The healers, Souringhawk and Brightsky went off to find healing herbs for Mistywing. “Those dogs won't be back ever.” Fallinghail meowed proudly, as Brightsky chewed up the herbs, and dribbled the juice on Mistywings scratch. The kits climbed out of the nursery, and started hunting a pebble. Neonstar climbed up onto a rock and announced, “Tigerstripe is kitting soon!” as Tigerstripes mate, Souringhawk nuzzled her. Neonstar jumped down from the rock and went to her cave to rest. The next morning Moonhawk woke up and groomed herself quickly and found Neonstar at the mouth of her den with Leopard Stalk, their kits, now warriors, still sleeping. The scent of a rabbit filled Neonstar's nose as well as the kits and Leopardstalks, Neonstar bounded at it and once the rabbit noticed the black she-cat, Neonstar had already bit its neck. She brought it back to Moonhawk and the kits, wha’ll Leopardstalk shared a vole with Souringhawk. As the rest of the cats woke up, a plump rabbit hopped out of its hole, ears twitching. Gracefulfeather ran after it, coming back with the giant rabbit. The cats took turns taking a few bites then passing it along. Natureberry went to the tall grass where Tigerstripe was going to do her kitting, and gave her a mouse Midnightstalker caught the day before. “Thanks Natureberry.” Tigerstripe mewed to the dark grey she-cat, her green eyes glittering with gratefulness. The next morning Neonstar heard a screech of pain and cats rushing here and there, Startail had a mouse in her jaws and Souringhawk was pacing back and forth in the entrance of the big cave and Brightsun was next to Tigerstripe with healing herbs. Tigerstripe let out another, screech of pain. “Tigerstripe is kitting!” There were two kits, a black tabby she-cat, and a grey tom with darker grey paws. “What are you going to name them?” Asked Sandfur padding up to Tiger Stripe, “I don't know yet.” the orange tabby she-cat replied, pain in her emerald green eyes. It started to rain and the cats brought either a few mice or a rabbit into their caves to eat. In the morning, Soringhawk and Tigerstripe were gazing at the kits, when Startail padded over and asked “What are their names?” Tigerstripe pointed her tail at the grey tom, “Thats Birdkit” then pointing her tail at the black tabby she-cat, “And that's Starkit.” Startail motioned Moonhawk and Sandfur over, who were watching curiously. “The black tabby she-cat is Starkit, and the grey tom is Birdkit” Tiger Stripe explained. “Very good names!” Honeydew, padding over, “Thank you, Honeydew!” Tiger Stripe mewed. Midnightstalker and his mate, Shiningeye, padded over, and gave Birdkit a nuzzle. Birdkit padded over to Shiningeye who batted him playfully. Waterrush came in the big cave followed by Mousefrost, Emberfall, and Stormrage with a few rabbits and a mouse. “We really need to get some more catmint before leaf-bear comes.” Moonhawk overheard Brightsun explaining medicine cat herbs and uses. The patrol, that was at the SandClan border, came rushing over. “What is it now?” Neonstar asked Branchsnap, “We heard SandClan talking about attacking a moon.” he panted. “Get a bigger patrol. Sandfur, Ripplewing, I want you to join Branchsnaps patrol. SandClan said they would be attacking MidnightClan in a moon.” Ripplewing puffed out her chest and mewed, “I'm going to defeat half of their Clan and they don't know it.” Sandfur snorted with amusement at the young warrior, “Oh they will know.” Birdkit stumbled up to them. “Can I go?” “No, it's too dangerous for a kit that's not even an apprentice yet.” Birdkit sighed with disappointment and walked back to Starkit. A moon has passed and not surprisingly, SandClan, came past the border of MidnightClan. “Do you know why we are here?” mewed Sandstar with hostility in her voice. Ripplewing’s eyes became chips of ice, “Why do you want to battle?” she hissed back cold blue eyes gleaming with anger and hostility. “Prey-stealers!” Sandstar shot back, throwing a blow at Branchsnap. He made a vicious snarl and dove down on SandClans deputy, Pinetail and was also Sandstars mate. Then, the battle started for prey. Ashpelt clawed at Mistywing, wha’ll Shineingeye tackled Feathermuzzle. Starrymaple went down with Sandstar, and Sandstar bit hard into Starrymaples throat. He yowled with pain then fell limp, like a piece of prey.  “You killed my father!” screeched Sunpaw horror in her yowl and her amber eyes. “He’s with StarClan now.” said her littermate, Lightningpaw pain in his usually bright eyes. All the cats, MidnightClan and SandClan, stared at the fallen warrior. “He was a horrible warrior anyway.” Sandstar sniffed, thought she had a glint of shame in her eyes. “SandClan retreat.” she said quietly. SandClan backed up then ran back to their territory. Sunpaws eyes flooded with grief for her lost father.  He was a horrible warrior anyway. Sunpaw remembered Sandstars horrible and heartbreaking words.  A few moons later, she was a warrior. Sunstreem, Sunstreem! She remembered the Clan calling out her name. A fresh wave of grieve swept over her, remembering her father calling out her apprentice name, louder than any other cat. The next moon, Lightingpaw was a warrior. His warrior name was Lightingburrow and he came to comfort her. Maybe life was not all bad.
